| Since its foundation, the
German-Nepal Friendship Association (DNG) publishes the NEPAL
INFORMATION (NI) to inform its members about basic
and current issues of the Himalayan kingdom. In 1985, the original
information paper has been transformed into an official journal
(ISSN 0178-8612) published twice a year with about 100 pages per
issue.
With issue no. 87 (June 2001), the journal has
got a new organizational structure. The chief editor, Dr. Wolf
Donner, is now assisted by a nine member editorial board. Besides a
current topic, the NI henceforth regularly covers the following
themes:
Current politics - society -
population & health - nature & environment - energy, water &
waste - tourism - economy & development - traffic &
communication - geography & area information - agriculture,
stock farming & forestry - culture, art & religion -
education - research - other organizations - particulars.
The journal presents numerous
articles of Nepali authors in German translation. Besides, each
issue contains a voluminous bibliography, book reviews and a
chronicle of association events.
Institutions and libraries can subscribe
the journal (DM 60.-- / year). For members of the
German-Nepal Friendship Association, the subscription is paid with
the membership fee. Sample copies can be ordered against advance
payment of DM 27.-- The account no. of the DNG is 40002107 at
Stadtsparkasse Koeln (bank code 37050198).
